Seasonal Sensation: Wild Garlic in May

IT’S MAY: GO WILD… GARLIC!

The first of May is celebrated and heralded in a number of ways: Hurray, hurray! The first of May! Hedgerow tupping begins today! It is also wild garlic season so do try Yarg wrapped in wild garlic from Fay at Big Wheel Cheese – less than 6 weeks old this classic lactic cheese from Cornwall is wrapped very young in local wild garlic leaves giving it a hint of garlic flavour.

Alfie at European Fine Cheese is bringing Bärlauchkäse a Swiss Alpine cheese with wild garlic and fresh local herbs mixed with the milk – think classic Alpine texture and flavour tinged with the aroma and taste of those Alpine meadows.

Patrick at Curd & Cure is bringing a wonderful Cornish Brie layered with wild garlic which marries the creaminess of the Brie paste and the fresh herbiness of the wild garlic perfectly.

Jenny from Nut Knowle Farm will be bringing fresh goat cheese wrapped in wild garlic leaves which are very pretty little parcels tied up with string!

It’s not just cheese as the team at The Olive Bar are bringing wild garlic and pork saucisson with them this month – we can’t wait to try it!
