Grantee Update: Jake Goldstein’s winning streak
Jake Goldstein of Primrose Creamery, one of our 2025 Chiswick Cheese Market Cheesemaker Grant recipients, has set the Nottinghamshire cheese world rolling.
Founded in October of 2025 on the Welbeck Estate in Nottingham, Jake’s Primrose Creamery is dedicated to making great cheese, rooted in the land. The milk is delivered warm from the cows and each cheese is named after local person associated with cheese.
Lindley is a soft, raw cow’s milk cheese enriched with Jersey cream named after Elizabeth Lindley who was an unassuming but essential dairymaid on the Welbeck Estate.
Eggleston, another raw milk cheese, is small and soft with a delicate, orange rind and a gently ripening centre. Although William Eggleston took no part in the violence of the 1766 Cheese Riot, he was a Nottinghamshire farmer who was only trying to protect his produce but was killed nonetheless.
Jake’s desire to get his cheeses noticed led him to enter the British and Irish Cheese Awards where he won silver for Lindley and bronze for Eggleston. Next came the Artisan Cheese Awards where Primrose Creamery won five golds, four silvers and three bronzes as well as young cheesemaker of the year for Jake.

In the September 2026 Great Taste Awards, both cheeses were awarded three stars each and then went on to win an outstanding two Golden Forks. The Great Taste Golden Fork for England went to Eggleston and the Golden Fork for Outstanding Bursary Winner was handed to Lindley.

The Chisweek Cheese Market was also approached by Sam Brice about supporting his short documentary film about Jake’s cheese journey. We are eagerly anticipating the release of the film and more progress from the seemingly unstoppable Primrose Creamery.
The grant provides instruction from The Academy of Cheese and Jake is embarking on Level Three with a view to Master of Cheese accreditation.
